He was born Oct. 29, 1928, at Richland, the son of Gladys and Claude Howard. His early years were spent working on the family farm. He graduated from Overbrook Rural High School in 1946. He married Joy Yvonne Fisher, Sept. 22, 1947. She died on July 1, 1992. He worked for Allied Electric and was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local No. 226. He was also a member of Overbrook United Methodist Church. Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Margaret Matney; his son-in-law, Doug Wells; and his sisterin-law, Joann Mellies and husband, Lyle. He is survived by his brother, Marlin Howard; sister-in-law, Nonavee Howard, Lenexa; three daughters, Vicki DeMoney and husband, Jerry, Clifton, Va., Diana Sisson and husband, Ben, Carbondale, and Deborah Wells, Topeka; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Services were to be May 26 at Overbrook United Methodist Church, with burial at Overbrook Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to North Osage County 4-H Club or Overbrook Girl Scouts and sent in care of Greenwood-Roberts Funeral Home, 730 Western Heights Dr., Overbrook, KS 66524.
