Read More	Darwin Krenz, 85, of Rural Tioga, North Dakota and Nicholasville, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday evening, April 17, 2018 at his home in Nicholasville, surrounded by his family. Darwin Dean Krenz was born on February 18, 1933, to Reinhart and Anna Krenz on a farm near Sherwood, North Dakota. From the beginning his trajectory was to become a real cowboy earning every crease and stain on his weathered skin and hat. Many of his family and closest friends have fond memories of going out fencing with him on the ranch. Later in life he was legally blind but still managed to teach those interested the art of fencing - pounding in stakes and mending wire at the age of 80. Darwin had a great sense of humor, loved his wife Jean deeply and was always interested in the lives of his children, grandchildren and friends. He thought Don Quixote pointed out the way we should live. Darwin did his best to live the impossible dream. Darwin attended NDSU in Fargo before joining the US Army as an infantryman. After his army time, he returned to the family farm in Sherwood ND and met the love of his life, Jean Dillon. They were married in Portland, OR in 1956 and shared 61 fruitful years together until Jean’s recent death on November 25, 2017. The couple lived in on a ranch near Sherwood until they made the big move with their young family to the Clarence Parker Ranch near the Lewis and Clark recreation area near Williston, ND in 1962. Darwin and Jean made another big move in 1972 and purchased a beautiful ranch south of Tioga, ND on the shores of Lake Sakakawea. They created Prairie Disposal Inc., an industrial landfill, in the early 1980’s and continued to raise cattle and live on the ranch full time until 2014. Darwin’s quiet way with horses, people, children and friends was a welcoming gift he willingly gave to all he knew. Ranching was his way and watching him stride across a field of alfalfa was to see a man in his element. Surrounded by the big blue sky and the tall grass, he was at home. Surviving Darwin are his children, Vanneisa (David), Julie (Paul), Celeste (Bill), Courtney (Debbie), Brad (Karen); fifteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Preceding Darwin in death were his wife of 61 years, Jean; daughter, Charmaine; brother, Paul Krenz; sisters, Ginger Gates, and Jackie Vanvig; and parents, Anna and Reinhart Krenz.
