Description	:	Tulare - Daryl L. Hofeman, 74, of Tulare died Thursday, Dec. 1, 2005, at Community Memorial Hospital in Redfield, due to complications from COPD. He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends. His funeral will be Monday, Dec. 5, 2005, at the Tulare United Church in Tulare. Reverend James Waisanen will officiate. Visitation will be at Thelen Funeral Home in Redfield. Daryl was born March 16, 1931, on a farm southeast of Tulare to Carl A. and Margaret (Afdahl) Hofeman. He attended several country schools in the area and graduated from Tulare High School in 1949. Daryl served in the United States Army from 1952-1954 during the Korean War. Upon his return, Daryl married Jean Stoner on Sept. 8, 1956, and began farming and raising a family southwest of Tulare where they resided until 2002 when they moved into Tulare. Daryl was a lifetime member of the Martin and Earl Hofeman American Legion since 1954 and served as Post Adjutant for over 20 years. He was also a member of the Paul A. Schleher VFW Post #2755 of Redfield since 1954. He served as clerk of the Garfield Township board from 1979 to 2002. Daryl's favorite past times were hunting, fishing, playing cards and watching sports events on TV. Among the survivors grateful for having shared his life are four daughters: Tammy (Dean) Bahr of Redfield, Terri Hofeman of Huron, Jodi (Tim) Jungwirth of Tulare, and Lori Hofeman of Tulare; and one son: David (Denise) Hofeman of Redfield. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; his sister-in-law: Janet Hofeman of Madison, S.D.; his aunt: Ella Adams of California; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Jean on Oct. 31, 2005, and his brother, Donald. Casketbearers will be Daryl's grandchildren: Chad and Justin Getscher, Nathan, Amy and Ashley Bahr, Jennifer and Tyler Jungwirth, Austin Hofeman, Jade and Kaden Hofeman and Rilee Red Owl.
