Description	:	Tulare - Jean A. Hofeman, 69, of Tulare, S.D., died Monday, Oct. 31, 2005, of cancer at Beverly Healthcare Center in Redfield, S.D. At her time of passing, she was surrounded by her family, and will be greatly missed by her family and her many friends. Her funeral will be Friday, Nov. 4, 2005, at 2 p.m. at the Tulare United Church in Tulare. Reverends Jim and Cori Waisanen will officiate. Jean was born on March 29, 1936, in Mellette, S.D., to Homer and Della (Smith) Stoner. She graduated from Tulare High School in 1955 and married Daryl Hofeman on Sept. 8, 1956. They resided on a farm southwest of Tulare, where she raised her family and assisted in the daily farm chores. After working on the farm side by side for over 45 years, Jean and Daryl moved to Tulare in 2002. She was a lifetime member of the Tulare American Legion Auxiliary and the Redfield VFW Auxiliary. She served as treasurer of Garfield Township from 1992 to 2002. She was a member of the Redfield Women's Bowling Association and enjoyed her time bowling on Thursdays. Jean loved to crochet, sew, work outside and spend time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Among the survivors grateful for having shared her life are her husband, Daryl of Tulare; four daughters: Tammy (Dean) Bahr of Redfield, Terri Hofeman of Huron, Jodi (Tim) Jungwirth of Tulare, and Lori Hofeman of Huron; and one son, David (Denise) Hofeman of Redfield. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter; three brothers: Dwayne (LaDean) of Tulare, Dr. Clinton (Elaine) Stoner of Columbus, Ohio, and Harlan Stoner of Nevada; an aunt, Evelyn (Lawrence) Riehle of Burbank, S.D.; an uncle, Harold Smith of Mellette; and several cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Joyce Shoemaker and one brother, Nathan Stoner. Published in the Aberdeen News on 11/2/2005.
