"At age 23 he was married by Probate Judge Timothy Hackett, in Fort Scott, October 7, 1891 to Miss Artie May Ralston, daughter of David and Malinda Ralston, pioneer county residents. David Ralston came to the county in 1854. "D.A. Drake twice served as Treasurer of Bourbon County and was active for many years in Uniontown and Bourbon County Church, Masonic MWA and other civic activities. He was survived by a daughter, Mrs. Vernie Cameron of Humansville, Missouri, and an adopted son, Albert Drake of Uniontown." *********************** Fort Scott Tribune July 14, 1952 Former Treasurer, D. A. Drake, Dead "David A. Drake, 84, twice treasurer of Bourbon county and active for many years in Uniontown and Bourbon county church, Masonic MWA and civic activities, died at 2:15 yesterday at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Vernie Cameron, Humansville, MO. "The former county official, whose boyhood, was spent in a log cabin sever miles west of Uniontown died following a stroke six weeks ago. He had been blind for the past three years and had been bedfast for 18 months as the result of a heart attack. "Since the death of his wife, in February, 1948, he had made his home alternately with his children living with the daughter of Humansville for the past 10 months. "David A. Drake, son of Ethan A. and Angeline Drake, was born March 30, 1868, near Rutland, Ill. When he was five years old he came with his parents to Bourbon county. His boyhood was spent in a log cabin, which had a huge native rock fireplace, laid with Marmaton river sand. "At the age of 23 he was married, by Probate Judge Timothy Hackett, in Fort Scott, October 7, 1891, to Miss Artie May Ralston, daughter of David and Malinda Ralston, pioneer county residents. (David Ralston came to the county in 1854). "Surviving are the daughter, Mrs. Vernie Cameron, Humansville; an adopted son, Alfred Drake, Uniontown, five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Two daughters and a son are deceased. "Mr. Drake was a member of the Baptist church, Uniontown Masonic lodge and the MWA. "Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. tomorrow at the Uniontown Baptist church, with interment at Hatch cemetery. The body is at the Ralston funeral home, Moran." ***********************
