Description	:	David was the third of six children born to Samuel Orr and Matilda Renicker Clemens. David was a dealer in musical instruments. He married Miss Mary Ann Bonner on January 19, 1876. She was the daughter of Andrew and Rebecca (Christy) Bonner of Venango Co., PA. The couple had seven children: Della, Luther, Dove, John W., Xenia, Harley H. and Lynn Volna. No stones were erected for David or Mary Ann. +++Many thanks to contributors Dave & Kristi Bruner for the following information+++ "Obituary of David Clemens: David Clemens, son of Samuel and Matilda A. Clemens, was born at New Philadelphia, Ohio, June 12, 1850. Moved to Iowa at the age of fifteen. He grew to manhood on the farm near Pittsburg, and after his marriage to Miss Mary A. Bonner, January 4, 1876, continued farming until, the year 1885, when they moved to Keosauqua. This marriage was blessed with seven children: Miss R. Della, who was called by death in December, 1898; Luther, died June 1882, John W., May, 1911; the living are: Mrs. W.R. Davidson, of Des Moines; Harley at home; Mrs. P. Rupplinger of this city; Lynn of Des Moines. For a brief period Mr. Clemens had been afflicted, but looked forward to a Golden Wedding anniversary two years hence. However death released him from further suffering Tuesday evening, August 5, 1924, at the age of 74 years, 1 month, 24 days. Besides the afore named children he leaves to mourn his death his beloved wife, one brother William Clemens; also three grandchildren survive. Mr. Clemens was united with the church of Christ in early life, whose tenets he held faithful to the last. "Here in an inn a stranger dwelt, Here in joy and grief by turns he felt; Poor dwelling, now we close the door, The task is o'or; The sojourner returnes no more. So when life's sweet journey ends Soul and body part like friends; No quarrel, no murmer, no delay, A kiss, a sigh, and so away." Funeral services took place at the home at 2 p.m., Thursday, July 7, conducted by Rev. J.C. Caughlan, pastor of the M.E. church, Keosauqua.
