Description	:	David Christian Martens, the son of Knud Martens and Karen Marie Christensen, was born on July 26, 1911 north of Hardy, Nebraska. He passed away on November 19, 2005 at the Nelson Good Samaritan Center in Nelson, Nebraska at the age of 94 years, 3 months and 23 days. David attended the Weimer rural school north of Hardy, Nebraska. He was baptized and confirmed at the Betheny Lutheran Church at Ruskin, Nebraska. He passed away on November 19, 2005 at the Nelson Good Samaritan Center in Nelson, Nebraska at the age of 94 years, 3 months and 23 days. David attended the Weimer rural school north of Hardy, Nebraska. He was baptized and confirmed at the Betheny Lutheran Church at Ruskin, Nebraska. He was united in marriage to Lyola Wurtz on December 19, 1933 and this union was blessed with three children. David was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He lived in the rural Hardy and Superior area most of his life. He resided at the Nelson Good Samaritan until his death. Preceding him in death were his parents, his wife Lyola on October 23, 2002 an infant sister, Harriet and brother Harold Martens. Survivors include his daughter, Marie Wescott and husband Dale of Las Animas, Colorado; and sons, Delbert and wife Pat of Meridian, Idaho; and Dennis of Hardy, Nebraska; 6 grandchildren, Debra Olmstead of Mesa, Arizona; Diane Quiring of Salem, Oregon; Rodney Wescott of Minneapolis, Minnesota; Rhonda Wescott of Lincoln, Nebraska; Brian Martens and Kellie Abrams both of Hastings, Nebraska; 4 great-grandchildren, Nicole Mueller, Kenneth Olmstead, Jr., Rebecca and Rachel Wescott, and 2 great-great grandchildren, Emily and William Mueller, sisters, Dorothy Toepher of Denver, Colorado; Esther Romaro and husband Joe of Wheatridge, Colorado; brother, Ove Martens of California; nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. Mass of Christian Burial services were held on Friday, November 25, 2005 at 10:30 AM from the St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Superior, Nebraska with Father Philip Luther officiating. Lector was Dan Corman, altar servers were Zach Dressman and Ty Rempe. Congregational hymns "Crown Him With Many Crowns", "Holy God We Praise Thy Name", "Praise To the Lord the Almighty" and "Amazing Grace" with Betty Schott as organist. Rosary services were held on Friday, November 125, 2005 at 10:00 AM from the St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Pallbearers were Brian Martens, Jim Wilson, Tom Abrams, Doyle Christensen, Kerry Corman and Rod Wescott. Interment was in the Evergreen Cemetery at Superior, Nebraska.
