Description	:	David Elliot Sellars, second child of James and Elizabeth Sellars was born in Vandalia, Iowa Sept. 22, 1858 and died at Mahaska, Ks Jan. 12, 1945 at age of 86 years 3 months and 21 days. His four sisters and five brothers all preceded him in death. With his parents, brothers and sisters they came to Kansas from Iowa, locating in Republic county in October 1870 Here he grew to manhood on the homestead near Ida. He was united in marriage on Dec. 31 1892 to Ada Bise who passed away September 29,1883. On January 3, 1892 he was united in marriage to Alice Hatch. To this union were born 3 children Ray, Millie E. and James M. all of Mahaska. His wife preceded him in death September 12, 1924. Most of his wife he spent farming in Graham, Trego and Washington County, and his later life at the carpenter trade. Surviving is his three children also two grandchildren Velda Fern and Juanita Mae Sellars of Mahaska. Funeral services were held at the Presbyterian Church Sunday afternoon, Rev. Douglas D. Barns officiating. Internment was held in the Ida Cemetery southwest if Narka, Ks.
