Description	:	David passed away at Palmetto Health Richland Hospital in Columbia, SC. He was the son of the late David Hydrick Gillam, Jr. and the late Pearl Edith Inabinet Gillam. He was a graduate of Orangeburg High School and the University of South Carolina with a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering, later receiving his licensed Professional Engineering certification. He worked as an Electrical Engineer for the Department of Public Utilities (DPU) where he retired as Director of the Electrical Division after 33 years of service in 1998. He was the son of the late David Hydrick Gillam, Jr. and the late Pearl Edith Inabinet Gillam. He was a graduate of Orangeburg High School and the University of South Carolina with a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering, later receiving his licensed Professional Engineering certification. He was a current member and Past President of the Kiwanis Club International of Orangeburg and an active member of Limestone United Methodist Church. He loved hunting, fishing, gardening and spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife, Harriet Smith Gillam of Orangeburg; two sons and daughters-in-law, Kenneth "Ken" David (Dena Evelyn Craven) Gillam of Orangeburg and John Christopher "Chris" (Holly Marie Greene) Gillam of Columbia; grandchildren: Meghan and Ryan Gillam of Orangeburg, Catherine and Alyssa Gillam of Columbia; sister, Edith Elaine Gillam (Joe) Katzenberger of Lexington; nephews: Russell "Russ" Eugene Gunnells and Richard L. Smith; nieces: Erin Leigh Gunnells and Karen Smith Willis. The family greeted friends from 6 to 8 PM Thursday evening, February 5, 2015 at Dukes-Harley Funeral Home, Orangeburg, SC. Funeral services were held at 11:00 AM on Friday, February 6, 2015, at Limestone United Methodist Church in Wolfton, SC. The Reverend Don Studebaker presided. Honored to serve as pallbearers were Tim Ayer, Jay Culler, Russ Gunnells, Chris Kenney, Josh Recor and Jeff Strickland. Memorials are suggested to the Limestone Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Mr. Hayne Culler, 1431 Lee Blvd., Orangeburg, SC 29118 or the Limestone Church Memorial Fund, c/o Mrs. Mary Agnes French, 1013 Deer Crossing Road, Orangeburg, SC 29118.
