Description	:	David Earl Gillespie, 80, of Campbellsville, passed away at 3:58 p.m. Monday, July 1, 2013, at Taylor Regional Hospital after several weeks' illness. Son of the late Frank and Mary Jane Maklefresh Gillespie, he was born Sept. 1, 1932, and raised in Bethel, Ohio, a little town near Cincinnati, Ohio. He attended grade school and high school in Bethel and entered the Air Force during the Korean Conflict after graduation. Son of the late Frank and Mary Jane Maklefresh Gillespie, he was born Sept. 1, 1932, and raised in Bethel, Ohio, a little town near Cincinnati, Ohio. He attended grade school and high school in Bethel and entered the Air Force during the Korean Conflict after graduation. After returning from the military, he came to Campbellsville to attend Campbellsville College. He graduated in 1960 and later received a master's degree from Eastern Kentucky University. He also did graduate work at Western Kentucky University. He taught in the Taylor and Adair county school systems until he retired in the 1990s. He worked as registrar and business manager at Campbellsville College for several years. He was a member of Campbellsville Baptist Church for more than 50 years. David's proudest achievement was teaching the Sunday school class at Medco Nursing Home for 35 years. He still remembered many of the residents at the time of his death. He was married to Rosemary Hancock Gillespie for 52 years. She survives. Survivors also include a sister, Florence Taggart of Williamsburg, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral was Friday, July 5, 2013, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home in Columbia, Ky. Bro. Ken Foreman officiated. Burial was in Cane Valley Cemetery.
