Description | : | David Ebenezer Haddock, Sally Haddock, and Thomas Ireland, were the first to settle in Shetek after the Dakota conflict. Thomas Ireland was the only uprising survivor to return to Lake Shetek. Among those that lost their lives on August 20, 1862 at Slaughter Slough were Mr. Ireland’s wife, Sophia Waters and two of his daughters, Sarah Jane and Julianne. Thomas’s other two daughters, Rose were taken captive by Chief Redwood and four year old Ellen by Tissie Tonka.
