Description	:	Funeral services for David Cobb of Spirit Lake will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 8, at the Henry-Olson Funeral Chapel in Estherville with the Rev. Christine Lang officiating. Interment will be at South Walnut Cemetery with Military Rites performed by VFW Post 3388 & American Legion Post 91. David Edward Cobb, the son of Donald and Elsie (Brugger) Cobb, was born Aug. 22, 1939, in Blossburg, Pennsylvania. He passed away Thursday, Oct. 2, 2014, at Lakes Regional Healthcare in Spirit Lake at the age of 75. After high school, David joined the Navy in 1958. He had a distinquished career as a Hospital Corpsman for over 30 years, including service in the Bay of Pigs and Desert Storm. In 1999 he retired at the prestigious rank of Master Chief. In civilian life David was employed at the National Institute of Health in Maryland and later as Director of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Kansas Medical Center, where he consistently demonstrated the concepts of "Service Excellence and 5 star performance." He retired in 2008 after 37 years of dedicated service. David was a member of the Lutheran Church and also the VFW. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Sharon of Spirit Lake; his children, Jason Cobb, Adam Cobb, Caroline (Ronald) Wagner; four grandchildren, Kirsten Wagner, Ronny Wagner, Ashley Cobb, Andrea Cobb; father-in-law, Melvin (Dolores) Book; sister-in-law, Barb Brown; brothers-in-law, Mark Brown and Scott Book and siblings, Donald Cobb, Dick Cobb and Brenda Wilkinson and many other relatives.
