Description	:	Mr. Franklin Sneade, one of the city's best known and most highly regarded young business men, died at his home on W. Main Street Wednesday evening, following an illness of about a year. He was 50 years of age. He was the son of Mrs. Mary Bradshaw Sneade and the late David F. Sneade, and was born at Rhodes Point, Smith Island. He was associated with his father for some years when the elder Mr. Sneade was a member of the hardware firm of Bradshaw & Sneade here. Read More	Mr. Franklin Sneade, one of the city's best known and most highly regarded young business men, died at his home on W. Main Street Wednesday evening, following an illness of about a year. He was 50 years of age. He was the son of Mrs. Mary Bradshaw Sneade and the late David F. Sneade, and was born at Rhodes Point, Smith Island. He was associated with his father for some years when the elder Mr. Sneade was a member of the hardware firm of Bradshaw & Sneade here. Franklin Sneade was widely and affectionately known as "Sneadie." He was an expert plumber and plumbing contractor, and had been appointed by Governor McKeldin a member of the State Board of Commissioners of Practical Plumbing, a position he held at the time of his death. During World War II he served in the U. S. Navy, applying his special skills, and held the rank of Shipfitter 1/C. He was plumbing foreman for the firm of Mahering-Hanson Company for some time, and for about nine years he conducted his own heating and plumbing business from his establishment on Seventh Street. In 1954 he purchased the old Crisfield Hardware Company business, and has been successfully conducting it since that time. A member of Immanuel Methodist Church, he also was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, of Stanley Cochrane Post of the American Legion, and he always had been active and interested in civic and community affairs. "Sneadie" was the kind of fellow people instinctively liked. He was a perfectionist in his profession, and a kindly and generous man in his everyday living. He had been successful in his business endeavors because of hard work and know-how, and had earned the high esteem and regard of everyone who knew him for his honesty and integrity and the gladness with which he helped his fellow men when any occasion presented itself. His circle of friends was wide, many of them depended upon him for advice and guidance, and his death has caused sincere sorrow in the whole community. Funeral services will be held today, Friday, at 2:00 p.m. in the Bradshaw & Sons Funeral home here, with the Rev. J. Howard Link, pastor of Immanuel Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in the Crisfield Cemetery. Bearers will be members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Surviving him are his widow, Mrs. Angeline Maddrix Sneade, his mother, Mrs. Mary Bradshaw Sneade, two daughters, two sons, two sisters, and seven grandchildren.
