Read More	Martha's maiden name is spelled "Maurer". McDERMET, DAVID HENRY—David Henry, the oldest child of Jesse and Mary Jane McDermet, was born December 15, 1854, in Scioto County, Ohio. He departed this life at Geneva, Neb., January 2, 1933, at the age of 79 years and 18 days. He came with his parents to Missouri in 1865, and settled near Gibbs. He was married to Julia Eliza Hughey June 16, 1881. To this union, three daughters were born, Mrs. Elsie Hutchens of Geneva, Neb., Mrs. Evalena Bradley of Lincoln, Neb., and Mrs. Stella Bruce of Fairmont, Neb. He, with his family moved to Nebraska, settling on a farm near Fairmont twenty-eight years ago. Later he moved to Geneva. Mrs. McDermet died January 10, 1916. April 9, 1918, he was married to Martha Archer, who died October 17, 1931. Mr. McDermet is survived by his three daughters and five grandchildren, also three brothers, A. M. and Ed of Gibbs, Mo., Elmer of Minatare, Neb., and three sisters, Miss Alta and Mrs. Laura Cook of Gibbs, Mo., and Mrs. Ella Chitman of Cannon City, Col. He was baptized in infancy and later converted and untied with the Methodist Episcopal Church and was a loyal, faithful and earnest Christian until death. When moving to Nebraska, he transferred his membership to Geneva, Neb. For a year or so he has not been able to attend church, but previous to that he was a regular attendant and only recently expressed the hope that he could again be able to get to church. He was a good Christian man, and at a ripe old age has gone to enter into his reward. “Verily he rests from his labors while his works do follow him.” The funeral service was held at the Methodist Episcopal Church at 2 p.m. yesterday and was conducted by Rev. W. H. Shoaf. Interment was in the Geneva cemetery. The Nebraska Signal 05 January 1933 page 2.
