Description	:	D.H.Morgan Dies At St. Ann Hospital David H. Morgan, widely-known old time resident of Anaconda died last night after a long illness. He had been a prominent resident in political and civil life in Deer Lodge, Granite and Powell counties. Mr. Morgan maintained a law office here for a number of years. Morgan, widely-known old time resident of Anaconda died last night after a long illness. He had been a prominent resident in political and civil life in Deer Lodge, Granite and Powell counties. Mr. Morgan maintained a law office here for a number of years. He was born at an army fort on the Rio Pecos, New Mexico. He attended schools at army posts in Wyoming, Colorado and Nebraska. His father was an officer in the regular army. After finishing grammar school he entered a preparatory school in Philadelphia. He took his college course at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. He practiced law in Denver before coming to Montana. Mr. Morgan came to Anaconda in 1893. He was employed at the old works, then went to Deer Lodge where he was a year in the county clerk and recorder's office. He became interested in mining at Coloma and Garnet. He was selected as undersheriff on his return to Anaconda in 1896. In this position he captured four desperadoes who had blown safes in Butte and Deer Lodge. Among those arrested was one with an international reputation. The arrest occurred where Opportunity is located now. After leaving the sheriff's office, Mr. Morgan became a timekeeper and surface boss for the Bi-Metallic Company at Phillipsburg. He was undersheriff of Granite County for two years.In 1908 he was chief deputy game warden. In l914 he returned to law and passed the examination to the bar. He was county attorney in 1916 and filled that office for two terms. Since that time he has been practicing law. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Inez Morgan, three sons-in-law and daughters, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond I. Murphy, Fargo,N.D.; Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Wentworth, Great Falls; Mr. and Mrs. Deane Metcalf, Redwood City, Calif.; three grandchildren, Mary Pay Murphy,Fargo, Mary Lynne Metcalf and Darcy Metcalf of Redwood City. Mr. Morgan was an Elk.
