He was born Feb 1, 1952, in Ottumwa to Ernest L and Frances Burk Heckart. He married Jamie Covert Sept 7, 1984. A graduate of Cardinal High School of Eldon, he attended Indian Hills Community College. He worked on gas pipelines and at the Chillicothe Power Plant before moving to Indianola in 1987 where he worked in building maintenance 22 years at Orchard Place in Des Moines. He attended Calvary Open Bible Church in Ottumwa and First Assembly of God in Indianola. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, church activities, helping others and spending time with is family. Surviving are his wife, Jamie, of Indianola; two daughters, Wendy (Eric) Longden of Des Moines and Lindsey Heckart of Indianola; three grandchildren, Jacob, Riley and Denver Longden; his mother, Frances Heckart Machlan of Ottumwa; his sister, Frances K (Lonnie) Archer of Drakesville and his brother, Matthew Heckart of Puyallup, Wash. He was preceded in death by two infant daughters; his father Ernest Heckart; a step-father Ralph Machlan; and two brothers Eddie and Dennis Heckart. Funeral services will be 10:30 am Wednesday at Reece Funeral Home in Ottumwa, Dr J. Albert Calaway of First Assembly of God in Indianola officiating. Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery.
