Read More	Obituary from Colfax Tribune, Thur Feb 1 1934, p.1: Early Resident of Colfax Died Thursday Funeral Services for David Lamb Held Sunday at Baptist Church David Lamb, an early resident of this city, passed away Thursday, January 25th, following a short illness. Mr. Lamb suffered a stroke about a week ago at his home in this city, and never fully regained consciousness. Mrs. Lamb was the head of one of several fine Welsh families that came to Colfax many years ago to make their home and has ever been one of the respected citizens of this community. David Lamb was born in Penfford, Wales, July 10, 1854, and died in Colfax, January 25th, 1934, at the age of 79 years 6 months and 15 days. He grew to manhood in Wales and in 1875 was united in marriage to Mary Ann James, who passed away March 12th, 1933, at their home in Colfax. To this union were born ten children, two of home were born in Wales and came with their parents to America, settling in Martins Ferry, Ohio. The remaining eight children were born in America. Two of the ten children preceded their parents in death, David Mathew and Pearl Lamb Williams. Mr. Lamb was a member of the First Baptist Church of Colfax; a member of the K.P. Lodge, holding membership in Red Lodge, Montana, also an active member of the Redmen Lodge, holding membership at Colfax. Two of the children living were unable to attend, Mrs. A.H. Irwin of this city, who is sick, and David Lamb Jr., of Valley Junction, who was recently hurt in an auto accident. Those left to mourn him are: Mrs. A.B.Somerville of Newton, Ia.; Mrs. A.H. Irwin of Colfax; Mrs. C.M.Clark of Colfax; Mrs. Harry Willis of Gillispie, Ill.; Mrs. E.J.Hook of Valley Junction; David Lamb Jr., of Valley Junction; Mrs. Sam Pollard Jr., of Colfax; Mrs. H.H.Best of Valley Junction; and Mrs. Leonard Drew of Newton. There are 17 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren, and a host of friends and neighbors. Mr. Lamb was a kind, loving father, a loyal citizen and a true friend to all whom he knew. His pleasing personality and sterling qualities have won for him the love and esteem of a wide circle of friends who deeply mourn his departure. He made a brave struggle for life and every possible aid was given him but his strength proved insufficient and he passed peacefully to his reward. May we, like him: "So live that when the summons comes To join that innumerable caravan That leads to that mysterious realm Where each shall take his chamber In the silent halls of death; Go thou not like the quarry slave at night Scourged from his dungeon, but Sustained and soothed by an unfaltering trust, Approach thy grave like one that wraps the drapery Of his couch about him and lies down to pleasant dreams" Funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Baptist Church with the Rev. Morgan Jones, and Rev. Wm. Paul Hammar officiating. Music was furnished by Mrs. Laz Johns, Miss Ruth Price, Gomer Williams, and Chester Binkerd, with Miss Elizabeth Hull presiding at the piano. The pallbearers were six son-in-laws: Hull Irwin, Clarence Clark, Ebb Hook, Harry Willis, Sam Pollard Jr., and Leonard Drew. Interment was in Colfax Cemetery. Card of Thanks. To the many inquiring friends, who with offers of assistance and words of sympathy have endeavored to lighten our burden of grief during the recent illness and loss of our dear father, we wish to express our most heartfelt appreciations and sincere thanks. Especially do we wish to thank Morgan Jones for his words of comfort, the choir for the beautiful music rendered, also the members of the K.of P. and Redmen Lodges for their help.
