Read More	Obituary from Colfax Tribune, Thurs March 16 1933, p.1: Mrs. David Lamb Passed Away Here Sunday. Funeral services held Wednesday afternoon from the Baptist Church. Mrs. David Lamb passed away Sunday, March 12th, at her home in this city, after an illness of some time. Death resulted from cancer; but not until the past two months was she able to be about. She was well known in Colfax, where she had spent many years of her life and enjoyed the love and respect of her many friends. She was a good wife, a beloved mother and a true friend and neighbor. Funeral services were conducted Wednesday afternoon from the Baptist Church, with Rev. Wm. Paul Hammar, the pastor, in charge of the service. Mary Ann James, daughter of Mr. & Mrs. David James, was born in Fishguard, Wales, January 10th, 1858. It was here that she grew to womanhood and was united in marriage to David Lamb, in the year 1875. To this union were born ten children, two of whom were born in Wales and came with their parents to this country, settling in Martins Ferry, Ohio; the remaining eight children were born in America. Two of the ten children preceded her in death, David Matthew and Pearl May Lamb Williams. Mrs. Lamb was a member of the First Baptist Church at Colfax, having been a member of the Baptist Church since childhood, always patient and kind, never complaining, always thinking of the comfort and needs of others. She was a member of the Lady Maccabees of Colfax and her cheery, loving ways will be missed by the organization; also a member of the Daughters of Pocahontas, and at one time was an active member, but retired these last few years. Those left to mourn her loss are her husband, David Lamb, and eight children, Mrs. A.B. Somerville of Newton; Mrs. A.H. Irwin, Colfax; Mrs. C.M. Clark, Colfax; Mrs. Harry Willis, Gillispie, Ill.; Mrs. E. J. Hook, Valley Junction; David Lamb, Valley Junction; Mrs. Sam Pollard Jr., Colfax; Mrs. H.H. Best, Mrs. Leonard Drew of Newton, a granddaughter whom they raised, 17 grandchildren and a host of friends and neighbors. Mrs. Lamb requested her family not to grieve as she was ready and anxious to go to her heavenly home to lay down her burdens. To the end her lips were moving in prayer, saying, "Jesus carry me." Her last words and thoughts were of her husband, wishing to take him with her, but left the consoling thought that "God would take care of him." Life quietly and without pain ebbed slowly out, March 12, 1933, at the age of 75 years, 2 months, and 2 days. Mother, we will miss you. Your face to us so fair; But heaven will be more peaceful Because we know you're there. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Baptist Church, with Rev. Paul Hammar, assisted by Rev. Morgan Jones, officiating. Music was furnished by a quartet composed of Mr. Laz Johns, Mrs. John Cross, Gomer Williams, and Chester Binkerd, who sang, "In the Garden," and "Lead Me Gently Home," a solo "Sweet Mystery of Life," by Mrs. Laz Johns, and "The End of a Perfect Day" sung by Gomer Williams. Mrs. Carl Janney presided at the piano. The pallbearers were all relatives of the deceased, A.H. Irwin, C.M. Clark, Leonard Drew, Harry Willis, Sam Pollard Jr., and Ebb Hook.
