Description	:	"The Cambridge City (IN) Tribune, Thursday, August 15, 1895 FATAL ACCIDENT David Howard, one of the best known young men of this vicinity, lost his life Wednesday noon, while assisting in loading on a car a four ton ten foot shear shipped from the Bertsch Machine Works. The car was on the siding at the Imperial Mills, and the low-truck wagon with the shear was in the act of driving up to the car when the machine toppled and fell to the ground, carrying the unfortunate man with it to instant death. Read More	"The Cambridge City (IN) Tribune, Thursday, August 15, 1895 FATAL ACCIDENT David Howard, one of the best known young men of this vicinity, lost his life Wednesday noon, while assisting in loading on a car a four ton ten foot shear shipped from the Bertsch Machine Works. The car was on the siding at the Imperial Mills, and the low-truck wagon with the shear was in the act of driving up to the car when the machine toppled and fell to the ground, carrying the unfortunate man with it to instant death. One end of the shear caught him and almost severed his head from the body. The body was badly crushed, and life evidently was ended in an instant. Willing hands soon rescued the body from the heavy machine and carried it to Wright's undertaking rooms, where it was prepared for burial. The deceased was a son of the late Isaiah Howard, and a brother of Mrs Chas. Bertsch. He was born in this vicinity about 40 years ago, and some years since he married a daughter of Abram Copeland, who, with two children, survive him. He was an upright, industrious gentleman, whose untimely death will be greatly mourned not only by his family and relatives but by the community generally." "The Hagerstown (IN) Exponent, Wednesday, August 21, 1895 David Howard, killed at Cambridge last week, was buried at the German Baptist cemetery, west of Hagerstown. He was insured several years ago, by Dr. Keith, for $1,500, in the Union Central."
