Description	:	DAVE WHITLA, 59, IS SUMMOND BY DEATH FUNERAL RITES WILL BE HELD HERE MONDAY AFTERNOON Dave Whitla, 59, Omaha, resident of Norfolk from 1918 to 1942, died Friday night at Omaha from the effects of a stroke of paralysis. He had previously suffered a stroke. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 Monday afternoon at the Norfolk Home for Funerals. Burial is to be in Prospect Hill cemetery. Mr. Whitla was born Aug. 6, 1889, at Battle Creek. He started his railway career May 21, 1906, as a station helper at Stanton. He was out of the service from August 1907, until June, 1908. On July 17, 1908, he started working at Burke, S. D. He was promoted to telegrapher at Battle Creek Feb. 14, 1910, and on April 27, 1918, was made train dispatcher at Norfolk. He held that position until April, 1942, when he transferred to the Union Pacific and moved to Omaha. He was with that railway at the time of his death. Among those surviving are his wife, Eva, and a sister, Mrs. Maude McIntosh, Meadow Grove. They had no children. Memorial managed by 8th cousin
