Description	:	Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Thenhaus-Howser-Burge-Swoboda Home for Funerals for Webster L. Whitla, 62, who died Friday morning at 9 o'clock at his home at Long Pine. The Rev. P. C. Packer, minister of the Congregational church at Long Pine, was in charge of the service and music was furnished by Miss Doris Thompson, vocalist, who was accompanied by Mrs. C. D. Packer, minister of the Congregational church at Long Pine, was in charge of the service and music was furnished by Miss Doris Thompson, vocalist, who was accompanied by Mrs. C. D. Young, both of Norfolk. Mr. Whitla was born June 5, 1877, at Battle Creek and spent the greater part of his life at that place. He served as postmaster at Battle Creek from 1912 to 1916 and later moved to Long Pine where he had since resided. He was married to Miss Jennie Alexander, Jan. 24, 1900, and to them one daughter was born. His death followed a lingering illness. Surviving besides his wife, are his daughter, Mrs. Lyle Phifer, and two grandchildren, of Arnold, Neb.; two brothers, William, Butte, and D. O. Whitla of Norfolk; and a sister, Mrs. E. L. McIntosh of Meadow Grove. Pallbearers were Charles Eaton of Stuart; J. B. Duffee and Charles Zimmerman, Battle Creek, and August Volk, William Luebcke, and George Stirk, Norfolk. Burial was in Prospect Hill cemetery. Memorial managed by 8th cousin
