Description	:	David P. Shotkoski, 92, of Fullerton died Saturday, March 26, 2011, at the Nebraska Heart Institute in Lincoln. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Peters Catholic Church in Fullerton. The Rev. Richard Whiteing will officiate. Burial will be in the Fullerton Catholic cemetery with military rites by the American Legion Post 151 of Fullerton. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday with a 7 p.m. Scripture service and rosary all at the church. Palmer Funeral Home of Fullerton is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Shotkoski was born Jan. 10, 1919, at Genoa to Joseph and Victoria (Cuba) Shotkoski. He was preceded in death by two sons, Patrick Shotkoski and Thomas Shotkoski. Survivors of the immediate family include his wife, Rita; three sons and a daughter-in-law, David L. Shotkoski of Brighton, Colo., Paul and Angie Shotkoski and Jerry Shotkoski, all of Fullerton; a daughter, Joyce Shotkoski of Phoenix; eight grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; a brother, Walter Shotkoski of Lincoln; and a sister, Frances Kuta of Genoa. He attended Silver Creek Schools graduating from Silver Creek High School. He served in the United States Army from 1942-1945 during WWII. He was one of the original members of the 70th division Cadre. He was member Company G, 2nd Battalion, 274th Infantry, 70th Infantry Division. He served on the front lines in the European Theater. He was awarded the Bronze Star for his heroic achievements in action, the Combat Infantry Badge and the Presidential Distinguished Unit Citation. After the service he returned to Nance County. On Feb. 9, 1949, he married Rita Nowak in Fullerton. They farmed south of Fullerton and had his well drilling business. He and his sons built one of the first test rigs and well drilling machines. They drilled most of the wells south of town. He retired in 1980's but continue to reside on the farm. He was a member of St. Peters Catholic Church, the Holy Name, Fullerton American Legion Post 151, VFW and he served on the Township Board. He enjoyed playing cards, fishing and listening to polka music. He was also preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Edwin Shotkoski and Don Shotkoski; two sisters, Lucille Augustine and Gertrude Valasek.
