Read More	DAVID HEPNER, PIONEER, DIES Civil War Veteran, 93, Succumbs Here Wednesday David S. Hepner, 93 year old Civil war veteran, died at his home here at 4:30 Wednesday afternoon. He had been in failing health for some time little time. He was born at Arvana, Champaign county, Ohio, on March 5, 1842. He enlisted at the outbreak of the Civil war as a lad of 18 years. Enlistment was made at Knox, Indiana, in Company B of the 29th Infantry. He served three years with the Union army and fought in the battle of Shiloh and with the reserve troops at the Battle of Bull Run. He received his Honorable Discharge from the Union army at Chatanooga, Tenn., and came to Iowa immediately following the close of the war. Three years later he came to Cedar county where he engaged in farming and where he has since resided. He retired and moved to Tipton about 20 years ago. Surviving him are two daughters, Mrs. Chas. Baker of Tipton with whom he made his home, and Mrs. Abe Werling of California; three sons, Darrell of Stanwood, Roy of Charles City, and Ralph of Coryville, Oregon, as well as numerous grandchildren, nephews and nieces. His wife preceded him in death on May 20, 1926. Funeral services will be held from the home at two o'clock Saturday afternoon with Rev. Gunneman, pastor of St. John's Reformed church of Tipton officiating. Interment will be made in the Tipton Masonic Cemetery.
