Description	:	Funeral services for David R.Kinney were held Tuesday. The Rev. Guy Fancher of Red Oak and Rev. T. K. Englund of the Methodist church here officiated. A private service was held in the home at 1:30 p m.. because of Mrs. Kenney's illness. At 2 a service was held in the Methodist church. A private service was held in the home at 1:30 p m.. because of Mrs. Kenney's illness. At 2 a service was held in the Methodist church. Son of Aaron and Sarah Jane Kinney, David was born in Yellow Springs, Ohio on June 7, 1864. With parents he came to Iowa when only four. The arduous trip was made in a wagon drawn by a team of oxen. Although only a few miles from their destination, they stopped in Old Red Oak Junction on Saturday evening because they did not believe in traveling on Sunday. They settled on a farm near Imogene. At that time Dave was only 4 years old. In 1890 the family moved to a farm near emerson and built their home and made themselves known as good farmers and neighbors. During these years they identified themselves with the Presbyterian Church in Emerson until the congregation discontinued. Dave stayed on the farm and helped his parents until his mother passed away in 1903. On February 22, 1905 he married Murriel Able of Emrson. After farming in Kansas and Nebraska several years, they moved to Emerson in 1913 and made their home here ever since. Besides farming, Mr. Kinney also did carpenter work and clerked several business places here and in other communities. He departed this life Saturday, March 4, 1950 at the ripe old age of 85 years, 8 months, 27 days. Those mourning his goings are his devoted wife, Mrs. Murriel Abel Kinney and several nieces and nephews and a host of friends. malvern Leader, Thursday, March 9, 1950
