He was also the grandson of Leonard & Elizabeth Paus Firor as well as Matthias & Anna Barbara Troxell Martin. On January 17, 1854, in Springfield, Clark County, Ohio, David married Anna Maria Walter. They were the parents of 4 children: Margaret Susanna, Daniel Walter, David Frederick and Mary Elizabeth Firor, the only one to reach adulthood. David passed away June 25, 1894, in Thurmont, and was buried in Weller's Church Cemetery there. Obituary for David S. Firor from Catoctin Clarion Newspaper, June, 1894: "DEATH OF DAVID S. FIROR--David Samuel Firor died at his home in Thurmont on Monday morning last aged 71 years 8 months and 13 days. The deceased was one of our oldest citizens and most highly esteemed for his many good qualities as a citizen. Born near this place, he lived his entire life here; his is one of the oldest families of this section and he was one of its most honored members. The deceased was one of the most genial and sociable of men; well-informed and given to the careful digesting of all that he read or heard, he was fluent, but exact in his words, he possessed a vein of humour that enlivened the dryest of discussions and pervaded the warmest of arguments. He was connected with a number of movements of a public character and until ill health forbade it, gave attention to and supported them. The deceased was a democrat but never held a political office of any character, well fitted though he was. David Samuel Firor was born at 'Father's Farewell,' one mile south of this place, October 12, 1822, at which place he resided except during an interval of several months, until October, 1872 when he occupied the residence on E. Main-st, where he made his home up to the time of his decease. He was the son of Daniel and Margaret Firor (nee Martin), one of seven children, viz; Jacob L., Martin D., Augustus, David S., Mrs. Barbara Troxell, Mrs. Elizabeth Sigmund and Mrs. Susanna Warrenfeltz. In Springfield, O., January 17, 1854, David S. Firor and Mary Walter were married by Rev. F. W. Conrad. To them four children were born: Margaret Susanna, Daniel Walter, David Frederick and Mary Elizabeth; the wife and one child, Mary Elizabeth survive him. He united with the Reformed Church, at Apples' near this place, April 10, 1841; he was a deacon for several years and was then elected elder, which office he held at Apples and afterwards at Trinity in this place until his death. He led the choir at these two churches for a period of forty years, was Superintendent for several years at Apples and at Trinity from its organization until the date of his death. He was buried from Trinity Reformed Church at 9 a. m. on Wednesday, June 27th, his pastor, Rev. Geo. A. Whitmore officiating. His body was interred in the U. B. Cemetery." Firor resolved the God in his wisdom had called home their venerable, beloved friend and brother, Elder David S. Firor after 50 years of service in the Lord's ministry, marked by long and faithful service, deep and sacred interest in its institutions, hold and brave defense of its dogma, concern for its temporal and spiritual welfare, with an exemplary life in the community, being considered by all one of the best, kindest and noblest of men. That the whole church had lost a wise councellor, a noble representative, a most devout, lovable and faithful Christian, esteemed by all. That the community had lost a kindly, generous Christian citizen whose life was an exponent of God-like manhood. That our sympathies be expressed to his bereaved wife and daughter who have lost such a loving husband and kind and affectionate father."
