The Lord called him home on August 15, 2021, with his daughter by his side. Dave was born December 3, 1927, to Frank and Amy Baldridge-Brynes Turner in Forsyth, Montana. When it was time to come home from the hospital, Amy and Dave caught a train to Rosebud, where Frank was waiting with a sled and team to take them to the homestead at the head of Sweeney Creek. They had to stop a couple of times to heat rocks to put under blankets to keep them warm. Dave joined an older sister Mary Jean. The two of them explored the countryside horseback when Dad was old enough to ride. They rode their horses to school and had a few horse races. Ten years later, a brother came along named Thad. Dave met Patricia Jackson and would ride from Hathaway to Sweeney Creek just to see her. They were married on June 24, 1950, and celebrated 70 years together. To this union, five children were born. Dad liked to ride bucking horses and entered a few rodeos. Later, he enjoyed team roping. Dad was a rancher who loved to work with horses and cows. He loved the wide-open spaces. He passed this love down to his children and Grandchildren. Dave's dad Frank would fill in preaching at the country churches that was his beginning as a child of loving the Lord. Dad was always praising the Lord and lifting his hands toward heaven. He prayed for his family every day as a prayer warrior. He helped out and was a member of the Rosebud Church. Dad was drafted into the Army in March of 1946 and was discharged in April of 1947. Frank had neighbors write letters to the secretary of War and a Montana Senator to get Dad discharged on the two ranches. Dad was stationed in Hawaii. Dad enjoyed going with his great-granddaughters to check on cows and water. They would bring snacks so they could have a picnic – and we don't know who enjoyed that more. Dave is preceded in death by Frank and Amy Turner, Pat Turner, sister Jean Woods, brother Thad Turner, daughter-in-law Deb Turner, and infant son David Scott. He is survived by Bill Turner and his children Scott and Cory, Clyde (Linda) Turner and their children Jason, Jesse and Jacob, Frank (Julia) Turner and their children Dusty, Dusten, and Rusty, Karen (Orly) Anderson and their children Tanya and Mike. He is also survived by several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and his friends and neighbors. There will be a celebration of his life with music and food at the Rosebud Church following graveside services. This is a joyous time as we know that Jesus is holding his hands.
