For over a week it had been known that David Veinot, aged 78 years had been ill, that medical aid was summoned and everything done that could be done for the sufferer, but those watching by his bedside knew that life was nearly over and the end came at 8 o'clock on Thursday evening, January 21. Deceased had lived a long useful life, always ready to help, no matter what it was. He was particularly interested in church work, always contributing to its funds and a constant attendant at church services and his erect and kindly figure will long be missed from its accustomed place. Rev. Gartung, his pastor, conducted services at the house, church, and grave on Sunday morning, January 24, and despite the conditions of the roads, the funeral was largely attended. Text: "Thy faith hath made thee whole." His pastor referred to the life of the deceased, as he knew him, engaged in different kinds of church work and always ready and willing to do his part. The church has lost a valued member. the community, a neighbour and everybody, a friend. He leaves to mourn their loss, five sons, Leander at Bestel, Ontario; Ingram at North Brookfield; Angus, Naaman, and Fred, with whom he resided at this place; and four daughters, Mrs. James Crouse and Mrs. Alvin Smith of North Brookfield; Mrs.Solomon Crouse of Bestel, Ontario; Mrs. Dennis Silver of Nineveh; also three brothers and five sisters and a host of grand and great grandchildren. His wife predeceased him nearly eleven years ago. the floral offerings were beautiful, testifying of the esteem in which the deceased was held. With thanks to Rosemary Rafuse.
