Description	:	David Willis McAlpin was born October 18, 1928 in Villisca to Willis Alcott and Christina Minnie (Christian) McAlpin. David went to country school through the eighth grade. He attended and graduated Villisca Community High School and studied one year at Tarkio College, Tarkio, Mo. David was a dairy farmer for twenty-five years on a farm ten miles north of Villisca. He worked at Andrew Trailer Sales in Clarinda for ten years and made many friends working on their travel trailers and motor homes. He then spent about ten years as a security officer in the prison at Clarinda. ... Read More	David Willis McAlpin was born October 18, 1928 in Villisca to Willis Alcott and Christina Minnie (Christian) McAlpin. David went to country school through the eighth grade. He attended and graduated Villisca Community High School and studied one year at Tarkio College, Tarkio, Mo. David was a dairy farmer for twenty-five years on a farm ten miles north of Villisca. He worked at Andrew Trailer Sales in Clarinda for ten years and made many friends working on their travel trailers and motor homes. He then spent about ten years as a security officer in the prison at Clarinda. He enjoyed that kind of very structured environment. After retiring as a security officer he did something that he enjoyed doing all his life...driving. For several years he and his twin brother Dale, delivered everything from travel trailers to cars and saw much of the United States in their travels. For the last few years of his life he drove a little Southwest Iowa Transit Bus delivering special needs people to work in Shenandoah each day. He thoroughly enjoyed doing that which gave him a reason to get up each day and go to work. Dave enjoyed his family, working with tools in his hands, which included being an accomplished wood carver, and meeting new people. He had a very fulfilling life and enjoyed the simple beauty of nature, along with fishing, hunting, and visiting with friends as much as anything. Dave passed away August 24, 2014 in Clarinda at the age of 85 years. He is preceded in death by his parents, son Rick, Granddaughter Molly McAlpin, twin brother Dale, sister Margaret Abarr and brother-in-law Glenn Bush. Celebration of Life services will be at 10AM Saturday September 20, 2014 at Harvest Fellowship in Shambaugh. Interment will be 11:30AM at the Villisca Cemetery in Villisca with lunch following at the Villisca Methodist church.
