We congratulate Mr. Smith on the possession of a grandson so thoughtful and generous. - The Quincy Daily Journal, Monday, May 7, 1888; page 4. ___ Details of his earlier life varied per source, including birthplace, and dates when they moved westward to other cities. The overall consensus appears to be they married in 1851 and not long afterward moved to Alton Illinois and a bit later to Quincy Illinois.
