Page 5 ______________________________________________ Dean, 10-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Thomas, died Sunday at a hospital in Rochester, Minn., where he had been taken last week for an operation for tumor of the brain. Dean Carlyle, only child of Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Thomas, was born July 7, 1927, at 10:30 a.m. at Mercy Hospital in Waverly, Iowa. The ten years of his life were spent on the home farm two and one-half miles west of Nashua. He was always much interested in the activities of the farm, indoors and out, and when not in school, was the almost constant companion of his father. At the Waterbury School, he had completed the fourth grade. Here he always enjoyed whole-heartedly his work and his playmates. During the last few weeks there developed what appeared to be some ailment of the eyes and the stomach. On last Tuesday, Aug. 3rd, an examination at Waverly indicated tumor of the brain, and he was immediately rushed to Rochester, Minn. Three days of further examination substantiated this diagnosis, and an operation was attempted Saturday, Aug. 7th. But all that medical science and loving care could do were of no avail, and he left this world Sunday morning at 9 o'clock. Aside from his parents, who are left to mourn his passing, there are in him immediate family, his grandmother, Mrs. Alice Ernwine, and his aunt, Miss Agnes Ernwine. A host of other relatives and friends, who brought him much joy, will miss his loving enthusiasm and zest for life. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the home. Rev. R. E.
