Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Brooklyn with Fr. Brian Shepley officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date. Visitation: 4 to 7 P.M. Monday, December 26, 2011, Kloster Funeral Home, Brooklyn. A memorial fund has been established. He is also survived by a brother Dale Van Tomme (Carol) of Guernsey and numerous nieces and nephews. Dean was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Frank. Dean Eugene Van Tomme was born August 29, 1936 in rural Brooklyn, Iowa, the son of Camiel and Eula Gilbreath Van Tomme. He graduated from BGM High School in 1953 and married Evelyn Ormiston on February 17, 1955 at St. Patrick's Rectory, Brooklyn. Dean was employed for D.W. Hubbard Lumber Company for a year, then Foster TV and Appliance in Brooklyn for 10 years. He worked for Walnut Grove Products for 25 years. Dean also was a school bus driver for BGM Schools for 15 years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, trap shooting and motorcycle riding. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Brooklyn, IA.
