(Tribune Photo by Myron Springer) New Year's Day in Hastings, Adams, NE was marred by death of Mr. and Mrs. Dean W. Fielder of 407 Laird and their three-year old son David, victims of a car-train crash. The accident occurred at the seven-track Burlington Railroad's laird Avenue crossing shortly before 1 a.m.. Fielder was thrown from the car to a point 147 feet from the site of impact, and the vehicle still carrying his wife, who was driving, and their son came to rest about 237 feet down the track, according to officials. TRAIN ON SCHEDULE The fielders car was struck by Burlington passenger train No. 8 traveling from Denver, CO to Omaha, NE and Engineer P. H. Nickolson of McCook, NE said his speed at the time of the accident was about 45 miles an hour and the train was running on schedule. Paul Arnell, also of McCook, NE is conductor of the train. Adams County Attorney Don Brock said a string of boxcars on an adjacent track probably obstructed the views of Engineer Nickolson and Mrs. Fielder. Fog had cut visibility at the time of the collision to one city block. Fielder, 29, was killed instantly January 1, 1966 and his wife, Sharon Kay Fielder, 24, died about two hours later January 1, 1966 at the Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital Hastings, Adams, NE where their son David died Saturday evening January 1, 1966.The Fielder's 18-month-son Donald Lee was at home at the time of the accident. SEVICES TUESDAY January 4, 1966 for Mrs. Sharon Kay (Cartwright) Fielder, a native of York, York, NE and David will he held Thursday January 6, 1966 at 10 a.m. in the Butler-Volland Chapel Hastings, Adams, NE with the Rev. Loyd Bliss officiating and burial will be in Cedar View cemetery at York, York, NE. Mrs. Sharon Kay (Cartwright) Fielder is survived by her baby son Donald Lee; her mother, Mrs. Cartwright, and a sister, Mrs. Sandra Young, both of Riverside, Riverside, CA. Services for Fielder, a native of Hastings, Adams, NE will be held Tuesday January 4, 1966 at 2 p.m., in the Butler-Volland Chapel Hastings, Adams, NE with Dr. Fay C. Mills officiating and burial will be in Juniata cemetery Juniata, Adams, NE. He leaves his parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Fielder, and brothers and a sister, George Jr., Kenneth, Robert, James and Mrs. Larry Shriver, all of Hastings, Adams, NE and His baby, Donald Lee. David W.
