Dee Lores was born January 14, 1929 on the Plasi farm S.W. of Prague, NE to Lumir and Henrietta (Houska) Prochaska. She moved with her family to a farm N.W. of North Bend, NE. She attended District 55 and District 7, and then was a 1946 graduate of North Bend High School. Dee Lores married Edgar W. "Eddie" Hancock on June 28, 1948 in Raton, N.M. After her marriage, they lived in Fremont, Coos Bay, OR, Mills and Casper, WY, Greeley, CO and returned to Fremont in 1952. While her children were young she worked nights at Maxey's, Kindler's, Sam's and Harr's restaurants. Dee Lores graduated from Midland Lutheran College in Fremont and received her Master's Degree from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln. She taught at several area schools. Dee Lores was a former member of the Presbyterian Church in Fremont and taught Sunday School. She later joined the First United Methodist Church in Fremont and then the Salvation Army Church. She served as president of the Retired Teacher's Association and was secretary of the Dodge County Teacher's Association. Dee Lores loved to garden and raised fruits and vegetables. She enjoyed sewing and made Raggedy Ann and Raggedy Andy dolls and quilts. She read her Bible daily and also helped teach By My Side children at the Methodist Church. She is survived by daughters, Judith ( Fred ) Heuerman of Fremont, Susan Hancock ( C. Thurman) of Omaha and Kathryn ( Ed ) Rother of Papillion, NE; sister, Janice ( Ray) Goossen of Bayard, NE; 8 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, who died January 30, 2015; and sister, Bessie Strong-Turner. Funeral service will be 10 AM, Friday, at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont. The Rev. Michael McGregor will officiate. Visitation on Thursday from 4 PM to 8 PM and Friday 1 hour prior to service all at the funeral home. Burial will be at Memorial Cemetery in Fremont. Memorials may be given to the Salvation Army Church, First United Methodist Church and the Presbyterian Church all in Fremont." Moser Memorial Chapel, 2170 N.
