Description	:	Delbert D. Coppess, age 83, of Stanwood, passed away Thursday, April 29, 2021, at Hallmark Care Center in Mt. Vernon. Visitation will be 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., Sunday May 2, at Chapman Funeral Home in Clarence. Funeral services will 10:30 a.m., Monday May 3, at the Stanwood Union Church, with Reverend Gary Burnett officiating. Burial will be in the Stanwood Cemetery, Stanwood, Iowa. Delbert Dean Coppess was born on June 7, 1937, in Cedar County, the son of Howard and Violet (Fairley) Coppess. He led a troubled life because of pneumonia at an early age, but had good family care to help him through with it all. He enjoyed playing pool and always made friends wherever he was. He enjoyed going to Ditto's to eat, visiting with friends and was an Iowa Hawkeye fan. Surviving are three sisters, Darlene Flockhart and Deanna Schnipkoweit, both of Stanwood and Doris (Richard) McAtee of Wyoming; two brothers, Dale (Darlene) Coppess of Mt. Vernon and Darrell (Joann) Coppess of Stanwood; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Donna Rhoads, one brother, Donald Coppess, one sister-in-law, LuAnn Coppess and one brother-in-law, Robert Flockhart. The family would like to thank the staff of Hallmark Care Center and Essence of Life Hospice for all their care given to Delbert.
