Description	:	Donald Coppess Funeral services for Donald Keith Coppess, 79, Stanwood, were held Friday, Sept. 30, 2011 at Stanwood Union church, with Pastor Phil Leipold officiating. Jo Brown was the organist and pallbearers were Chris Coppess, Danny Coppess, Brad Coppess, Michael Coppess, Donnie Keith Coppess and Robert Flockhart. Honorary pallbearers were all of his grandchildren. Burial, with military honors, was in the Stanwood cemetery. He graduated from Stanwood high school. He married Lulu Grace Longerbeam on Sept. 27, 1952 in Stanwood. She died July 9, 2001. Mr. Coppess farmed and worked at Midland Forge in Cedar Rapids. He served in the U.S. Navy from June 1952 to June 1960, receiving the Korean Service Medal, United Nations Medal, National Defense Service Ribbon and Good Conduct Medal. Mr. Coppess is survived by 4 sons, Don (Evelyn), Texas; Delbert (Beverly), California; Dennis (Linda), Mechanicsville; and Darren (Cheryl), Stanwood; a daughter, Debra (Michael) Bixler, Clarence; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; 4 sisters, Donna Lou (Russ) Rhoads, Marion; Darlene (Bob) Flockhart, Stanwood; Deanna Schnipkoweit, Wyoming; and Doris (Dick) McAtee, Wyoming; and 3 brothers, Dale (Darlene), Stanwood; Darrell (Joann) Stanwood; and Delbert, Tipton. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and a nephew, Donald Schnipkoweit.
