When she was seven years of age, her parents moved to Grant county, Wisconsin and at the age of fourteen she came with them to Sumner, Fayette county, Iowa, since which time her life has been mostly spent in that locality. Read More	Obituary Julia Delila Aldrich was born December 14, 1856 at Wattsburgh, Erie County, Penn. When she was seven years of age, her parents moved to Grant county, Wisconsin and at the age of fourteen she came with them to Sumner, Fayette county, Iowa, since which time her life has been mostly spent in that locality. In September 1874 she was married to James Zimmerman who died four years later, January 25, 1882, she was married to John Wesley Stohr and they settled on a farm four miles from Westgate where they have always resided unchased (retiring to) a suburban home just north of the city of Oelwein. She was the mother of five children--two of whom were by the former marriage. They are Mrs. Cora Judd of Oran, James Zimmerman and Burl Stohr who reside on their farms near Westgate. Mrs Gertrude Downing whose home is on the farm where she was raised and Mrs. Henry Brickman of Oran. Besides these she leaves to mourn their loss, her husband, eight grandchildren, her aged mother, Sarah Aldrich, three brothers, Geo Aldrich, of Oelwein, Merritt, of Axtell, Kansas, and LaVerne of Fall City, Nebraska, and three sisters, Mrs. Jeanette Davis of Sac City, Iowa, Mrs Silas Stohr, of Warrensburgh, Missouri, and Miss Jane Aldrich who with her mother resided with her who has been called from them. All of whom with the exception of the brother LaVerne are in attendance at the last sad rites. The demise which was sudden came as a great shock to the family and friends as she had been ailing but three days and had not been considered dangerous. She answered the final summons Friday evening May 12, 1911, falling asleep in Jesus as quietly and peacefully as she had lived upon earth. She was converted at an early age and joined the Methodist Episcopal church. For the past four years her membership being with the church in Oelwein where she will be greatly missed for she could always be relied upon to do well her part. She has always lived an exemplary Christian life and was known and loved by a large circle of friends. There never could be a better wife or mother, neighbor or friend, and any words of tongue or pen are weak to sound their praise their hearts would give her, and the sorrowing family have the heartfelt sympathy of all. Short services were held from the home Tuesday morning at 9 o'clock, and the last services were from Murphy church near Westgate where she had resided. There was a large concourse of relatives and friends in attendance which attested the high esteem in which she was held. The services were conducted by her pastor, Rev. W. G. Crowder, and were of an impressive nature.
