She married James Lewis PITTS on February 5, 1848, in Cook, Illinois. They had seven children, George R Pitts, Catherine Jane McCall, Lucinda R Pitts, Lewis H Pitts, Rhoda Pitts, Barnet Carpenter Pitts, John Warren Pitts. She died on March 12, 1912, in Longton, Elk, Kansas and is buried in Upola Cemetery, Upola, Elk, Kansas. Delilah Ostrander was born in Thompkins county, New York, May 24, 1831 and died at the home of her son, L.H. Pitts in Longton, Kansas, March 13, 1912, aged 81 years. She moved with her parents from New York to Cook County, Illinois and was there united in marriage to J.L. Pitts in 1848. They moved from Illinois to Iowa in 1854, and in 1868 came to Kansas, settling first in Ottawa county and in 1881 came to Elk county, locating near Longton where she resided until her death. Three sons, L.H. Pitts, B.C. Pitts and Warren Pitts and a large number of grandchildren and great grandchildren mourn her loss. Mrs. Pitts was a faithful Christian, a kind and loving wife and mother and a friend to everyone. Her death was very unexpected, being sick only a few hours. Funeral services were held at the M.E. church Friday morning March 15, conducted by Rev. G.W. Skinner. The remains were laid to rest by the side of her husband in Upola cemetery.
