Cherokee Sentinel, Oct. 24, 1919, page 1: Mrs. William G. Kays Dead Our community was shocked on Sunday morning when the news spread that Mrs. W. G. Kays had died that morning at her farm home northwest of town. While she had been sickly for some time past it was thought she was getting much better and her death was not looked for at this time. Mrs. Kays was born near Beulah December 16, 1875. She lived at that place until she was 18 years of age when she married William G. Kays and moved to the home where she lived until her death. She was a woman of pleasing disposition and her friends were always greeted with a pleasing smile and a kind word. She was a member of the Sunflower Club in her neighborhood and the City Federation of Cherokee. She was a member of the M.E. Church since childhood. She was a devoted wife and mother and loved by all. She leaves a husband, five children, two brothers and four sisters. The children are Mrs. Nettie Dauron, Leonard, Archie, Helen and Merle. The brothers are John and Arch, both of Girard. The sisters, Mrs. Laura Marr of this city and Mesdames Mary Clutter, Minnie Harr and Emma Watts, all of Girard. Funeral services were made at the home on Monday afternoon by Rev. Satterlee of the Pittsburg Methodist church, which was attended by a large number of friends.
