Kays Dead William G. Kays, 67, widely known farmer, died at 5:40 o'clock Friday morning at his home four miles southeast of Girard. He had been ill for seven weeks. Funeral services were held at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon in the Girard Methodist church with Rev. E.S. Hughes in charge. Burial was in the Cherokee cemetery. Mr. Kays was born in Missouri, Nov. 10, 1868, and had lived in this community since coming here with his parents at the age of seven years. he had lived in the present home for fourteen years. A membership was held in the Methodist church. Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Lena Kays; three daughters, Mrs. Earl Dauron of Cherokee, Mrs. Helen Hubbard of California and Miss Pauline Kays of the home; three sons, Leonard Kays of near Cherokee, Archie Kays of Pittsburg and Merle Kays of Kansas City; one brother, Dr. H.E. Kays of Pittsburg; three sisters, Mrs. Della McClure of Cherokee, Mrs. Susan Mason of McCune, and Mrs. Alta brown of Monmouth, and five grandchildren. Mr. Kays' mother, Mrs. M.G. Kays of McCune, also survives.
