E. Bussey died at her home on North Pleasant street last Thursday evening at 7:30 after a few days' illness of pneumonia. The brevity of her illness and the suddenness of death was a shock to all who knew her, and left her husband broken with grief. Mr. and Mrs. Bussey moved to Sumner about eight months ago, when they purchased the residence property of Mr. and Mrs. Dan Glass. Their acquaintance here has naturally been limited but the departed was respected and admired by those with whom she had come into contact. She had a splendid personality, she was a lover of her home and her life had been devoted to its care and to the comfort of those about her. She was sincerely loved by those who knew her best. Early in life she became a member of the Walnut Street Baptist church at Waterloo, and was faithful to that church until her death. Della Cretzmeyer was born on November 27th, 1872, at Waverly, Iowa. On April 22, 1893, she was married to W. E. Bussey of Shell Rock and they made their home on the old Bussey farm. After farming for ten years they moved to Waterloo and lived there until eight months ago when they came to Sumner, where they have since made their home. Mrs. Bussey was preceded in death by her father, mother and one brother, George. She is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Mamie Thompson, of Watonga, Oklahoma and Mrs. Raye Carragher, of Austin, Minn. Short services and prayer were held at the residence here at 10:00 Sunday morning conducted by Rev. D. I. Hammond, of the United Brethren Church. From here the funeral cortege went to Waverly, where services were held at the Kaiser Chapel, at 2:00 p.m., conducted by Rev. Simmons, and burial was made in a receiving vault in Harlington cemetery.
