Through the kindness of Professor Fort the public school was dismissed which permitted all her old school mates to attend the services which were conducted by the pastor, Rev Nichols, assisted by Revs McQuerry and Wissler. She was born in Washington County, Kansas, May 1, 1881, and died at Mount Etna, Adams county, Iowa, November 8, 1898, after an illness of only one week. The floral decorations of the casket and church were very pretty. The Class of '99, with whom she would have graduated, secured from Atlantic some beautiful cut roses, and Miss Maude Anders made a sickle of yellow and white chrysanthemums. The following young ladies, selected from her class associates, acted as pallbearers:The Misses Hattie Jenkins, Maude Brown, Rose Foust, Luclle Connrardy, Margaret Henry and Myrtle Hellyer. She left a bright Christian testimony. When told by the attending physician she must soon go, she replied: "Its all right." And during her last hours comforted her father A H Baber, and friends and remembered by name many of her old friends at Exira. Her body was laid to rest beside that of her mother, in the Exira Cemetery. Mother and daughter are now on the golden shore, waiting to welcome father where partings will be no more.
