Little and Lula Madison Little, and passed away at the VA Medical Center, Grand Island, on September 2, 1989, at the age of 56 years, 8 months and 4 days. He was one of three sons in the family. Little and Lula Madison Little, and passed away at the VA Medical Center, Grand Island, on September 2, 1989, at the age of 56 years, 8 months and 4 days. He was one of three sons in the family. Delmar grew up in the Fairmont area, attending District 17 and 18 through the eighth grade. He also attended three years of high school in Fairmont. He was inducted into the Army June 4, 1953, and was honorably discharged April 6, 1955, from Battery A 14th Field Artillery Battalion after serving in Japan and Korea. He received the Korean Service Medal, Unite Nations Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal and one overseas bar. He worked for Mumby's at Fairmont; a body shop in Geneva and was a county patrol operator for Fillmore County for 11 years until ill health forced him to retire in 1970. Delmar lived in Fillmore County all his life. He was united in marriage with Betty Wilkinson of Strang on December 9, 1956. To this union one son, Rodney, was born. Delmar has been on dialysis for the past 19 years. He and his wife, Betty, took six weeks training in Colorado and the past 17 years he was on home dialysis. Delmar was in and out of the hospital many different times and underwent surgery many times. The past six weeks were spent at the VA Medical Center in Grand Island. He was preceded in death by his father, James H. Little. He is survived by his wife, Betty; son Rodney; mother, Lula Little of Geneva; brothers, Melvin and wife, Ellen of Roca and Ivan and wife, Marilyn, of York; mother-in-law, Lila Wilkinson of Geneva; brother-in-law, Robert Wilkinson and wife, Joanne, of Beloit, Wi.; nieces and nephews. Delmar was a member of the VFW Post #7102, American Legion, and Nebraska Kidney Foundation. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards, tinkering in his workshop and watching TV. Funeral services were conducted from Farmer & Son Funeral Home, Geneva, on Wednesday, September 6, with the Rev. Cal Leeds officiating. Mrs. Carol Frey accompanied herself and Chet Frey, who sang "How Great Thou Art" and "Nearer My God to Thee." Pallbearers were David Bauer, Melvin Blanke, George Thompson, Dick Trapp, Ralph Gould and Dwayne Judy. Interment was in the Fairmont Public Cemetery. The Nebraska Signal September 7th, 1989 page 5.
