Description	:	Lula Pearl Little was born to Frank Madison and Minnie (Eberhardt) Madison on September 14, 1907, on a farm southeast of Geneva, and passed on July 4, 2005, at Heritage Crossings in Geneva, at the age of 97 years, nine months and 20 days. Read More	Lula Pearl Little was born to Frank Madison and Minnie (Eberhardt) Madison on September 14, 1907, on a farm southeast of Geneva, and passed on July 4, 2005, at Heritage Crossings in Geneva, at the age of 97 years, nine months and 20 days. She was one of 13 children in the family. When Lula was three years old, the family moved northeast of Geneva. They lived there for 20 years. While living there, she attended country school District Number 2, through the eighth grade. After the eighth grad, Lula stayed home and helped her parents on the farm. Attending a dance one evening, Lula met this nice young man by the name of James Little of Fairmont. They courted, and fell in love and were married November 8, 1927. To this union tree sons were born--Melvin, Delmar and Ivan. The couple farmed, renting farms at Burress and southwest of Fairmont. The family soon moved to a farm south of Fairmont, living there until October 15, 196, when they retired from farming and moved to Geneva. While still on the farm, Lula raised chickens, and had a big garden. She also worked as a cook at the Tower Cafe' in Fairmont for Harry and Loretta Bender. After moving to Geneva, she worked in the housekeeping department at Heritage for two years. She also worked for different families, cleaning and babysitting. Lula's husband passed away on February 2, 1978. Lula continued living in her own home until failing health required her to move to Heritage Crossings on February 22, 1999. Throughout her life, Lula enjoyed dancing, fishing and traveling with her husband. She also enjoyed crocheting, crafts, playing cards and she especially enjoyed raising a large garden of vegetables, as well as flowers. She always loved canning her produce and cooking. Lula always said that her motto in life was "To accept what life gives you, laugh when you can because you can't change some things." Lula was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Minnie Madison; husband,, James Little; son, Delmar and grandchildren Joan and Leroy Little; daughter-in-law, Marilyn Little; brothers and sisters-in-law, Clarence and Mary, George and Ida, Harvey and Gladys and second wife, Rose; Thomas and Laurine, and Ralph; sisters and brothers-in-law, Florence Brust and husband Roy; Bertha Hlina and husbands Frank and Joe, Alice Smisek and husband, Joe, Alta Ebbeka and husband John, and Hazel Ladman and husband, Joe; brothers-in-law, Bernard O'Brien and Kenneth Casburn. Lula is survived by sons, Ivan and special friend Birdene Nichols of Geneva; Melvin and wife, Ellen of Roca; daughter-in-law, Betty Little of Geneva; sisters Bessie O'Brien of Fairmont, and Hilda Casburn of Lincoln; sister-in-law Ruby Robb of Lincoln; grandchildren Rodney Little of Geneva, Helen Prince and husband, Jim of York; William Little and wife Lynette of Norfolk, Lloyd Little and wife Shari of Eugene Ore., Mary Beth Hanson and husband, Mark of Iola, Wisc. and great-granddaughter Megan Little of Yankton, S.D.; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services were conducted from Farmer & Son Funeral Home in Geneva on Friday July 8, with Rev. Lynn Strandt officiating. Recorded selections "How Great Thou Art" and "The Old Rugged Cross" were played at the funeral. Pallbearers for the service were John Lowe, Donald Madison, Gaylord Madison, Kenneth Ebbeka, Howard Casburn and Roland Casburn. Interment was in the Fairmont Public Cemetery.
