He was born August 26, 1937, in Ottumwa to Thurlo and Ella McFall King. He married Alice Ruby in 1959, and they had two children, Robert A. and Vonda K. He later married Shirley Hopkins. He was born August 26, 1937, in Ottumwa to Thurlo and Ella McFall King. He married Alice Ruby in 1959, and they had two children, Robert A. and Vonda K. He later married Shirley Hopkins. Surviving are his wife, Shirley of Ottumwa; a daughter, Vonda (DeWayne) Rohrer of Eddyville; two grandsons, Douglas Rohrer and Danial Rohrer; a granddaughter, Jaylena (James) Henningsen; stepchildren, Doug (Mary) Hopkins, Kim (Vicki) Ballew, Jewel Nelson and John Hopkins Jr.; many step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; a brother, James L. King of Ottumwa; and a sister, Ruth Exline of Ottumwa. He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Robert; two brothers, Arnold and Lowell Dale King; and an infant sister, Mary Helen. His body has been cremated. Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Reece Funeral Home with Rev. Reva Rimmer officiating. Inurnment will be in Shaul Cemetery. Visitation with the family present will be from 9 a.m. Monday until the time of the service. Memorials may be made to the family.
