Dirkson, daughter of George and Corrine (Dede) Dirkson was born August 25, 1930, in Lennox, South Dakota. She grew up in Worthing and attended school there. She moved to Sioux Falls where she met the love of her life Robert Bird. They were united in marriage on August 28, 1948, and blessed with 4 children, Doug, Pam, Sheila, and Shelly. The family have been longtime members of Wesley United Methodist Church in Sioux Falls. Every Friday for over 20 years she volunteered at Wesley UMC preparing for weekend services. She loved tending to her garden, flowers, and baking. Delores was devoted to her family and took great joy in being Grandma. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Doug (Marcy) Bird of Sioux Falls, Pam Hebert of Houma, LA, Sheila (Tom) O’Dea of Sioux Falls, and Shelly (Danny) Martin of Houma, LA; five grandchildren, Corey (Tracy) Bird of Sioux Falls, Tiffani (Rich) Paez of Harrisburg, SD, Dawn (Eddie) Hebert Snyder of Houma, LA, Brooke (Tory) Hebert Anglada of Houma, LA, and Jamie O’Dea of Sioux Falls; nine great grandchildren, Kelsie, Jake, Oliver, Ryder, Aubrey, Peyton, Camryn, Gavin, and Taylor; siblings, Mercedes Yesda of Sioux Falls, Glenda Metivier of Montana, Lorraine Dannenbring of Colorado, Mayona Authier of Sioux Falls, and Racine Kimball of Sioux Falls; and sisters-in-law, Marge Dirkson and Karen Dirkson both of Sioux Falls. She was preceded in death by her parents George and Corrine; husband, Robert; son-in-law, Donald Hebert; siblings, Ozzie Dirkson, Duanne Dirkson, Vera Abbas, and Mary Martens; and great grandson, Eddie Snyder III. - George Boom Funeral Home
