Dolores "Babe" Mary Roach was born on October 7, 1929 in Lisbon, North Dakota, the only daughter of Daniel (Dan) and Leona (Oestreicher) Roach. She grew up in the Lisbon, Ransom County, area and attended school in Springer Township, St. Aloysius Catholic School, and Lisbon High School. She graduated from St. Benedict's School in Wild Rice, North Dakota in 1947, and then attended St. Andrews School of Nursing in Bottineau, North Dakota. Dolores "Babe" Mary Roach was born on October 7, 1929 in Lisbon, North Dakota, the only daughter of Daniel (Dan) and Leona (Oestreicher) Roach. She grew up in the Lisbon, Ransom County, area and attended school in Springer Township, St. Aloysius Catholic School, and Lisbon High School. She graduated from St. Benedict's School in Wild Rice, North Dakota in 1947, and then attended St. Andrews School of Nursing in Bottineau, North Dakota. On October 29, 1951, she was united in marriage to Hilmer Ronning Jr. at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Lisbon, North Dakota. They were blessed with three daughters. Dolores was employed by Northwestern Bell Telephone Company, Lisbon Memorial Hospital, North Dakota Veterans Home where she retired in 1994 after 23 years of service, and the Beverly Anne Assisted Living Center. She was an active member of St. Aloysius Church, and volunteered for Hospice, St. Aloysius Catholic Church, and the Community Memorial Hospital. Delores was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She enjoyed the outdoors, knitting, sewing, cooking, and visiting with friends and family. Hilmer and Dolores also enjoyed square dancing. Dolores dedicated her last years caring for her husband at home. She is survived by her husband Hilmer at Maryhill Manor in Enderlin, North Dakota; three daughters, Mary Ann (Don) Morin, Sioux Falls, SD, Catherine (Jim) Ohnstad of Fargo, ND, and Julie (Tom) Slagle of Lisbon, ND; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three brothers, David Roach of Lisbon, ND; Gerald (Sharon) Roach of Bismarck, ND; and James (Googs) Roach of Lisbon, ND; and many nieces and nephews. Dolores was preceded in death by her parents. Funeral services were held Thursday, May 1, 2008 at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Lisbon. Interment at St. Aloysius Catholic Cemetery. Armstrong Funeral Home of Lisbon was in charge of arrangements. (Ransom County Gazette, May 5, 2008, pg 4, columns 3-4)
