Description	:	Deloris M. Lefever, 87, of Columbia City passed away peacefully at her home at 4:57 p.m. Saturday, June 16, 2018. She was born May 26, 1931 in Huntington County, Indiana a daughter of the late Howard A. and Ethel (Bussard) Gross. She grew-up in Jefferson Twp, Whitley County where she attended Jefferson Center School and graduated from Columbia City High School in 1949. On March 17, 1951 she was married to Jack Leroy Lefever. Lefever, 87, of Columbia City passed away peacefully at her home at 4:57 p.m. Saturday, June 16, 2018. She was born May 26, 1931 in Huntington County, Indiana a daughter of the late Howard A. and Ethel (Bussard) Gross. She grew-up in Jefferson Twp, Whitley County where she attended Jefferson Center School and graduated from Columbia City High School in 1949. On March 17, 1951 she was married to Jack Leroy Lefever. They made their home in Jefferson Twp. Mr. Lefever died November 30, 2001. In June of 2013, Deloris moved to Columbia City. In addition to being a full-time homemaker, she worked for a few years at the Tailoring Company, Fort Wayne as a seamstress and then Gobler’s Retreat from 1965 to 1975. She and her husband were accomplished Square Dancers and they traveled throughout the region and in Florida to participate in square dancing events. She excelled at crochet and produced many Afghans for which she held multiple copyrights for her patterns. She enjoyed candy making and taught instructional classes. She shared her candy with all. Always up for a game, she enjoyed cards and Mah Jongg. She was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church, the Red Hat Stutters, Eastern Star, Delta Theta Tau, and the Jefferson Twp Homemakers. She is survived by her two daughters, Janet A. (Ted) Knafel, Columbia City and Diana (Rick) Creech, Leesburg; grandchildren, Kari (Tim) Brubacker, Jayme (Tony) Dee, Michele (Jeff Dornick) Creech, Matthew (Brittany) Creech and Janel (Clint Arambula) Creech; and19 great-grandchildren. Additionally, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Melissa Creech; two brothers, Paul and Eddie Gross; and a sister, Madeline Ferrell. Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City
