She was born Oct. 27, 1907 in Wabash County, a daughter of Walter and Inez (Brookins) Bussard. She was born Oct. 27, 1907 in Wabash County, a daughter of Walter and Inez (Brookins) Bussard. Her formative years were spent in the North Manchester and Sidney communities and she graduated from Sidney High School. She married Howard Allen Gross Nov. 24, 1926, and they made their home in several communities: Grand Rapids and Jackson, MI, Collamer and Columbia City, IN. They resided in Florida since October, 1984. Mr. Gross died January 14, 1988. Mrs. Gross had been employed in several places, including Fort Wayne Tailoring Company, the Blue Bell, and Schultz Brothers Store in Columbia City, Meijer Company in Grand Rapids. She was a 50-year member of the Columbia City Chapter #65 Order of Eastern Star. Survivors include a son, Paul Gross of Naples, FL; two daughters, Mrs. Donald (Madeline) Ferrell of Bonita Springs, FL and Mrs. Jack (Deloris) Lefever of Columbia City; a daughter-in-law, Joyce Gross of Bonita Springs; 13 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and a sister, Betty O'Hara of LaGrange. A son, Eddie, and a sister, Mildred VanCleave preceded her in death. Funeral services was held Tuesday, Oct. 8, 1996 at the Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City, with the Rev. Gene L. Kinney, pastor of Grace Lutheran Church, officiating. #Burial was in Union Township Cemetery at Coesse. The Columbia City Order of Eastern Star conducted a twilight service, 8:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Preferred memorials are to be made to the American Heart Fund.
