Lennie Campbell-McVitty, the mother, also was born in Pennsylvania, September 27, 1873. Nettie A. McVitty, the six year old daughter, was born in Pawnee county, Nebraska, March 6, 1905. Funeral services took place at the PleasantValley United Brethren church, six miles south of Pawnee City, on Wednesday, Mat 31, at ten o'clock, and were concducted by the Rev. Charles Foster, assisted by Rev. Payne of DuBois and Rev. H. N. Hulse, former pastor of the charge. The text was taken from Hebrew 12-1- Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight and the sin which doth so easily beset us; and let us run with patience the race that is set before us. Mr. and Mrs. McVitty were not members of any church at the time of their death. Mr. McVitty was a conscientious and hard-working man, well spoken of by his neighbors. Mrs. McVitty was a pleasant, cheerful, tender hearted woman, loved by all who knew her. Seven children are left to mourn the loss of a kind father; a loving, affectionate mother, and a darling sister. John, sixteen years of age, Frank, thirteen years of age, and Robert, eight years of age, were all seriously wounded, and Jessie, eighteen years of age, Fannie, ten, and the little twin girls two years old, Lillian and May, were uninjured. The children have the sympathy, tears and prayers of the entire community. Interment was had in the Pawnee City cemetery, and the obsequies were attended by one of the largest congregations ever assembled in Pawnee county. (Unknown Newspaper Clipping.)
