Visitation will be from 6:00pm-8:00pm, Friday, February 17, 2017 at DeWitt Funeral Home in Hastings, NE. Burial will be on Monday, February 20, 2017 at Peace Lutheran Cemetery in Plymouth, NE. Vorderstrasse was born July 2, 1949 in Beatrice, Nebraska son of Carl and Milda (Rehm) Vorderstrasse. He grew up in rural Plymouth, Nebraska and graduated from DeWitt Tri-County with the class of 1967. Dennis received a degree in Business from Kearney State College in 1972. He married Nancy A. Fairchild on June 28, 1975 in Onawa, Iowa. Dennis worked as the Store Manager for Gibson's and Polymart, Shipping coordinator for Dupont Pioneer at the Doniphan Production Plant from where he retired in 2012. Dennis was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd and active on church council, committees, and video recording. He enjoyed attending auctions and acquiring a variety of collectibles along with researching family history. Dennis is survived by his wife Nancy Vorderstrasse of Hastings, NE; children, Brent (Angie) Vorderstrasse of Ayr, NE, Kristin Vorderstrasse of Kearney, NE, and Michelle (Jesse) Arbogast of Manhattan, KS; granddaughter, Lauren Vorderstrasse of Lincoln, NE; two sisters, Dianne (Randy) Waldmeier of Belvidere, NE and Sharon (Doug) Sellenrick of Plymouth, NE; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Willard and Norma Fairchild of Waverly, IA; brother-in-law, Roger (Sharee) Fairchild of Cedar Falls, IA; along with numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents.
